OMG I was so excited but it had to be kept top secret! I have never been asked to be involved in anything like it before & had no idea what the day would be like!
It was amazing......there was even a hair & make-up lady there, I had a swim hat on & do all my own make-up but still it was pretty cool. There were so many people there, they were recording different sounds, recording video clips, doing photo shoots, interviews & the film crew were there doing the advert. It was really busy!
I did a photo shoot to start with & then did the swim filming. I am only in the advert for a second but the filming took ages because we had to keep going over it to make sure it was right, I then had underwater voice recordings to do & then we stopped for lunch.
It was amazing to not only take part in but to see what goes on & how much work it takes to make a trailer. The staff really looked after me & lunch was incredible.....I would go everyday for dinner if I could haha!
It was just incredible, there was a red carpet entrance & no one had actually seen the trailer yet so it was very exciting. The evening began with presentations from Channel 4 & it was announced who would be the new presenting team for the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games & it actually features the largest number of disabled presenters ever seen on UK television so that's awesome! It was really glamorous with posh canapes, curry dishes to eat & even a cocktail bar......I only drink soft drinks so I stayed away from that even though they looked delicious!
There were so many lovely celebrities there supporting the event & taking the time to chat with everyone. I was really lucky & met lot's of great people especially the guys from 'The last Leg' Adam Hills, Alex Brooker & Josh Widdicombe who took the time to chat with me.....Oh they gave me great advice about bombing out of my breaststroke race in Rio so I can go on the show with them & off to a carnival....They were only JOKING haha!!
It was great to chat up with all the swimming presenters, some of them have commentated on me for so many years now that they know my swim stroke better than I do & can tell how I am feeling just by looking at me swim.
The trailer was played & the room erupted with cheers, shouts & applause, everybody loved it! We then had an inspirational mini show from The last Leg & they got everyone really motivated for Rio. The band from the trailer played live & it was then time to party!
I'm not really one to party so I had a mingle with people but I left really early. I managed to catch up with Iwan Thomas who has always been very kind & helped me out. I got to chat with the Goggle box ladies & I had a really lovely evening.
I am so proud to be part of this trailer & can not thank Channel 4 enough for inviting me to be part of it.
I guess the next time I will speak to everyone will be out in Rio!!
