Myself, Hannah Cockroft MBE & Ben Quilter were fortune enough to be meeting with Boris Johnson, Mayor of London on his arrival.
He was presented with an award on the stage in the arena this was for all of his hard work & dedication.
He was a Paralympic swimmer too & always has lots of good advice & amazing stories from when he used to compete. I was actually upset when i saw him but after chatting with him for a while he had convinced me to have some photos done & had cheered me up. I love his guide dog Violet, she is beautiful, really good & is going to retire soon. I am happy that Tim is giving her a forever home & keeping her after she retires. If i can train my dog Missy to be half as good as V i will be really pleased.
I find writing quite difficult & because i cant spell sometimes i panic when people ask me to write messages for them so i was really nervous but i had some cards printed ready to hand out.
I was put with Olivia Breen & we had so much fun together. Olivia is a T38 athlete & got Bronze in London in the 4 x 100 relay. We are the same age & because Olivia is so chatty the public met her first at the desk to make it easier on me. She was amazing & wrote the names & signed hers so all i had to write was and J Applegate underneath, it was perfect! We made a great team & someone even asked us if we were sisters because we were laughing so much together.
We did loads of photographs, let people wear our medals & had fun with everyone. I really liked being with Olivia & hope to see her again soon.
After our session we went back to the Copper Box Arena where we had some dinner. We were really well looked after by all the staff & the food was gorgeous. I had chicken curry with rice & tried most of the puddings. They were very posh & came with fruit sauce in pouring pots, they were yummy. I just hope i don't sink when i return to training!
After such a great day while we were traveling home it was announced that the 2020 Olympics & Paralympics were going to be held in Tokyo, WOW!
I was very tired on the train but i was really looking forward to seeing Missy my new dog from the rescue center that i had got on Wednesday, she is beautiful.
I had the most amazing day & feel very lucky that i was part of it. I really hope that there is a National Paralympic Day in 2014 because i would love to be part of that too.
